FAQ SRC

Some general questions about Space Rock Crusher.

Space Rock Crusher

1. What is Space Rock Crusher?

Space Rock Crusher is a VR game for Meta Quest set in space. The game can be considered a mix of action, arcade, and survival.

You must progress through a series of levels, piloting a spaceship armed with different weapons, including cannons, lasers, rockets, and guided missiles. You must destroy the space rocks around you to obtain the minerals they contain. The problem is that you must do this in a confined space, within a floating space stadium, and within a competition with a large group of enemy ships that will try to crush you if the rocks don’t do it first.

2. Any reference game?

Of course. Asteroids, by Atari, a game I played passionately in 1979. And I was already old back then, so you figure it out.

3. What platforms is it released for, besides Meta Quest?

For now, the game is exclusive to Meta Quest, but it’s planned to be compatible with other headsets currently in development. It will be compatible with the Android XR operating system and all headsets that will be released for this system. It will also be compatible with potential Steam headsets.

4. Is it not coming to Steam?

Not yet. Given previous results on Steam, I prefer to focus on Meta Quest for now. However, if there were clear player interest in releasing the game on Steam, I could do so within about two months.

5. How is the ship controlled?

The ship is controlled with Meta Quest controllers, like many other games. The game will also be compatible with gamepads; in fact, I recommend using an Xbox or PlayStation gamepad or similar.

6. How many levels are there?

As many as you can handle. The difficulty increases both with the number of rocks and the number of enemies. In any case, it’s not linear; at a certain point, the difficulty increases very gradually, but it will be a challenge at each level, that’s for sure. The first levels are named after the Greek alphabet. It wasn’t necessary, but it looks nice.

7. Have measures been taken to prevent motion sickness, given the fully 3D environment?

Yes, the usual measures have been taken. The edges don’t collapse because the cockpit walls have been placed, which have the same effect. The turning speed is modifiable and is quite slow by default, but can be accelerated in the configuration screen. There’s also a horizon, which indicates the spatial stage in which the game is played. If I don’t get motion sickness, I doubt anyone else will. But let’s not forget: if you experience motion sickness, you should stop the game immediately and, if necessary, consult a doctor.

Health comes first. Of course, I recommend short sessions and breaks between sessions.

8. When will it be released and at what price?

I hope to have the game released by October or November 2025, certainly before Christmas at the latest. I currently have an advanced alpha. The price will be affordable, around ten bucks. This is an indie game, but you won’t be short on action and shooting.

9. What languages are available?

The game will be voiced in English and translated into English, French, German, Spanish, and Catalan.

10. Any other highlights?

Yes. By default, the ship’s movement is arcade-style. But if you want, and you’re brave, you can activate real physics mode in the configuration screen. Then the ship will operate using Newtonian physics. And I assure you, Newton was a cruel man who invented Newton’s laws to make you suffer.

11. Where can I go for questions, inquiries, and death threats?

You can go to rocker at spacerockcrusher.com. There, an AI will answer you and say yes to anything as long as you pay.

Thank you very much!
